A Father's Day Question Worth Answering
Father's Day is a celebration of presence, but one of the most meaningful things a parent can do is make sure their family would be protected if they weren't there tomorrow. This edition explores the importance of planning ahead and creating clarity for the people you love.

Father's Day is a celebration of presence.
It's a day to recognize the dads who show up for school events, coach the teams, help with homework, fix what's broken, and quietly carry the responsibilities of family life.
But Father's Day is also a reminder of something less visible.
One of the most meaningful things a parent can do is make sure their family would be protected if they weren't there tomorrow.
It's not a pleasant thought, and most parents don't like to dwell on it. Yet nearly every parent I've met has, at some point, asked themselves the question:
If something happened to me, would my family know what to do?
For parents of minor children, that often starts with guardianship.
Many families have talked about who would step in to raise their children. They may have a sibling, close friend, or family member in mind. The problem is that good intentions and private conversations are not the same as a legal plan.
Without proper planning, the people you love may be left navigating difficult decisions during an already overwhelming time.
But guardianship is only part of the picture.
- Would someone know where important documents are located?
- Would your spouse or partner be able to access financial accounts?
- Would the people you trust have the authority they need to help?
- Would your wishes be clear?
These are the questions estate planning is designed to answer.
The good news is that creating a plan doesn't have to be overwhelming. In many cases, a few thoughtful decisions and properly prepared documents can provide tremendous peace of mind for the people you love most.
At Evergreen Legacy Law, I believe estate planning is about more than transferring assets. It's about creating clarity, reducing uncertainty, and making life easier for the people who may one day need to step in on your behalf.
This Father's Day, consider taking a few minutes to answer the question many parents have been putting off:
If something happened tomorrow, would my family know what to do?
If the answer is "I'm not sure," now may be the perfect time to start the conversation.
Warmly,
